Mobility Shop Hull

We’re IAP Mobility, a family-run mobility shop in Hull, and we’ve been helping people across Hull and East Yorkshire stay independent for more than 12 years. At our showroom on Cleveland Street you can see and try new and reconditioned mobility scooters, browse a full range of mobility aids, and get honest, unhurried advice from people who know the products inside out. There’s no pressure to buy — just come in, have a look, and take your time.

Because we’re independent and local, the person who helps you choose is the same person you can call afterwards if you have a question. We think that matters when you’re buying something you’ll rely on every day.

Mobility scooters in Hull

Mobility scooters are what we’re best known for. We keep a genuine range in our Hull showroom, from compact boot scooters that fold into the car to sturdier models built for longer trips, and we stock both brand-new machines and carefully checked reconditioned ones.

The best thing about buying your mobility scooter in Hull from a real showroom is that you can try before you buy. You can sit on it, feel how it steers, check you can get on and off comfortably, and make sure it’s the right size for where you’ll actually use it — not guess from a photo on a website. If you’re looking for used or reconditioned mobility scooters in Hull, every one we sell is inspected and prepared by us before it goes on the floor, so you get a lower price without the worry of buying blind.

Not sure which model suits you? Tell us where you want to go — the local shops, days out, a caravan, in and out of the car — and we’ll point you to the scooters that fit, and leave out the ones that don’t.

You can also browse our full range of mobility scooters in Hull.

Mobility aids and everyday living

Alongside our scooters, we stock a wide range of mobility aids and everyday living equipment to make life at home easier and safer. That covers walking aids like rollators and walking frames, wheelchairs, comfort seating and riser-recliner chairs, and the smaller everyday helpers — grab rails, perching stools, kitchen and bathroom aids, and the kind of practical bits and pieces that make a real difference day to day.

If there’s something you need that you can’t see in the showroom, ask us. We can often order it in, and we’d rather find you the right thing than sell you the nearest thing.

Servicing, repairs and trade-ins

A mobility scooter is only any good if it’s reliable, so we service and repair the scooters and aids we sell to keep them running safely. A regular service checks the batteries, brakes, tyres and electrics, which is exactly the sort of thing that’s easy to put off until it lets you down.

We also take trade-ins. If you’re ready to move on from your current scooter, bring it in and we’ll look at a part-exchange against your next one — a straightforward way to keep the cost down and put your old machine to good use.

Why choose us

There are a few mobility shops to choose from in Hull, so here’s what we think sets us apart:

  • 12+ years serving Hull and East Yorkshire. We’re not passing through — we’re a settled local business with a real showroom you can visit.
  • Family-run and independent. You deal with us directly, and we answer to our customers, not to head office.
  • Expert, patient advice. Our team knows the products and takes the time to understand what you actually need before recommending anything.
  • New and reconditioned choice. Whatever your budget, there’s usually an option that works — and every reconditioned scooter is checked over by us first.
  • Trade-ins and part-exchange welcome. Put the value of your old scooter towards your new one.

Frequently asked questions

Every reconditioned scooter is inspected and prepared by us before it’s sold. For warranty details on any particular model, just ask us in the showroom — we’ll talk you through exactly what’s covered.

We do. If you already have a scooter you no longer need, bring it in and we’ll look at taking it in part-exchange against your next one.

It depends on the class. Class 2 pavement scooters don’t need to be registered. Class 3 road scooters do have to be registered with the DVLA — but it’s free: they count as invalid carriages, so there’s no registration fee and no road tax to pay. There’s no legal requirement to insure a class 2 or class 3 scooter, but we’d always recommend it — and we’re happy to talk you through what applies to the model you’re interested in.

In simple terms, class 2 pavement scooters have a maximum speed of 4mph and are designed for footpaths and getting around the shops. Class 3 road scooters can do up to 8mph on the road, can be used on the road as well as the pavement, and tend to be larger with lights and indicators — though on the pavement they too are limited to 4mph. If you tell us where and how far you want to travel, we’ll help you pick the right class.
